Job Description:

Job Summary
This position performs mechanical diagnosis and troubleshooting. The vehicle mechanic is responsible for the maintenance and repair of all UPS vehicles, from light vans up to tractor trailer units.

What you’ll do:

  • Work Full Time
  • Work Monday - Friday
  • Rotating shift patterns, 06.30am-15.00pm, 14.45pm- 23.15pm (flexibility for overtime)

Shifts may vary over a 24 hour period in order to support the operation. Salary dependent on experience/qualifications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Preparing vehicles for mot inspection
  • Responding to daily vehicle condition reports supplied by drivers
  • Following regular maintenance schedules and updating computer records
  • Responding in a timely fashion to break down calls
  • Accurate stock control using computerized systems
  • Work as a team to achieve reliability and maintenance targets

Key Skills / Experience:

  • City and Guilds or equivalent qualification in vehicle mechanics is desirable but not essential
  • Experience of working with commercial vehicles including LGV's would be an advantage
  • Basic computer literacy skills
  • Able to work on own initiative and prioritize accordingly
  • Full UK driving license held for at least 2 years
  • An LGV Class 1 license would be an advantage but is not essential
  • Flexible, friendly and enthusiastic attitude
